blue hOOt

hOOt is complete!

Just in time for young J, with, let me see, three "mummy can I have one like this?" and one from a teenager wishing she was small again...

hOOt was made from two patterns put together. Actually, one pattern and I designed the eyes myself after looking at another one (can't remember where I saw it for the instructions....)

Lets just say, one little boy isn't going to get lost in the white winter very quick with this bright blue hOOt.

I made it up using 6.0mm, with double strand 8ply for extra thickness.

colours used: bright blue, white, orange, brown and cream

there was polly... and along came hoot

Going back to school holidays a while back, we had an extra 6 year old girl staying with us for a few days. What better way to busy them in the holidays was with some handstitching. I cut out these cute looking owls from some fat quarters and felt, and away the girls stitched - well Kimberley and Hannah anyways, while Emma was content to put pins in the material. I quite liked the little stuffed toys, that a few more purple ones with extra ribbons were made (machine stitched).

My little 3yr old nephew fell in love with his sisters Polly, the purple one (top one) , and well thats not right for a little boy to have a purple owl to take to bed, so along came Hoot, quite a bit bigger and in boys colours. Oh and bigger loops of silky ribbon for little fingers!

Well, seeing he is coming over with his parents in the next week, DV, I am onto making him a "Hoot" he can take back to Canada and wear for their white winter.

Its a bit of a combination of a couple of patterns I found while searching for something totally different. Thats what so nice about the internet. Inspiration is endless!

postmark: to albany

Stitched up in the last 48hours, for a little girl in Albany named Bronwyn. Made again from 100% aussie wool from Sean Sheep, making it a nice warmth to wear.

This is a really nice simple and easy pattern to do, with not a great deal of concentration required! See my first post for the link to pattern.

"thats not a cow..."

This week has seen me complete the Cowl. And now its finished, made from 100% aussie wool, from Sean Sheep, ready for when my the globe trotting sister and her family arrive next week. DV.

When my daugher asked me what it was, I said "a cowl", and her response?

WIP ATM

I have had a few people ask what I am busy with ATM. I currently have three things on the go, with a "to-do" list as long as my arm.Well, here are some pictures of WIP.

(this is a fill in project when I have nothing else on the go, so don't hold your breath waiting for the end result!)

I struggled to get the right colours for this one, so after asking for a bit of a personal suggestion from the mum-to-be, this is where it is at.

She is a blue girl just like me, so with a hint of red through out the blanket, it should be fit for a boy or girl.

 I really fell in love with this one. Just love the colour combination! (but then again, I love anything blue.)

Here is one of the projects I have been working on. I was searching around the other week for something to make for a friend for her birthday, and just couldn't find the right thing, until I found this. It was something nice to do, using double strand and a small 1.75mm crochet hook rather then the big 5.00mms that I have been using and all dc over a wooden bead. Either a necklace, tie it tight for a braclet or hang it as an ornament. Simple yet effective.

I was pleasantly surprised how well it turned out. Think one must be added to my growing 'to-do' list, for myself.

KJ and Bruce have been richly blessed to have a junior on the way! So I now have every reason to come up with something 'neutral'. But I am having a hard choice choosing which colour lot to go with. Any opinions? And no, I can't share just yet what its going to be...
